The sessions mainly take place at Y Glyn area of Llyn Padarn in Llanberis, opposite Snowdonia Watersports (LL55 4EL). We meet near the pontoon area in first car park.
Yes- parking is free at Y Glyn area of Llyn Padarn.
Please arrive 15 mins before the start of your session. This will allow you time to get changed and head to collect your wetsuit if you’re hiring one. During the Summer holidays and busier weekends, please allow plenty of time to arrive, park up or to get through some peak season traffic.
Wetsuits are not currently provided, however wetsuit hire (subject to availability) is an option on the booking form which is then arranged on your behalf with Snowdonia Watersports who are located opposite the lake. If you are hiring a wetsuit, there are changing rooms and showers for you to use. Alternatively, please bring your own wetsuit or wear your own swimwear along with shorts, t-shirt, leggings, thermal tops and a waterproof jacket should it rain. Please don’t forget to bring sun protection e.g. hat and sunscreen.
I strongly advise to wear closed toe shoes during your session. Many customers bring old trainers they don’t mind getting wet. This is mainly to protect your feet from rocks and slate and to avoid any injuries. No flip flops or crocs please.
Please attach your glasses to a strap to reduce damage or loss. The last thing anyone needs is to damage or lose their expensive Ray Bans or their one and only pair of glasses. It may be a good idea to wear cheaper sunglasses and/or bring a second pair of glasses with you.
Yes, although this is an injury risk should you get water in your eyes by falling off your board. Please let me know if you wear contacts.
Snowdonia Watersports provide changing facilities exclusively for customers who are hiring a wetsuit. Alternatively, please be prepared to change next to or in your vehicle.
There is a public toilet nearby.
The minimum age is 10 years old with no upper age limit. Participants must be fit and healthy. All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on the water during the session.
Absolutely! There are plenty of spots around the lake to sit and relax, or they can pop over to the café across the road for some coffee and delicious cake! There is also a lovely walk around Llyn Padarn.
Ideally yes, but you must be comfortable in water if you can’t. Everyone must wear a PFD (personal floatation device) which provides buoyancy, and you will also be attached with a leash to your board which is your big island of safety.
As a water sport activity there is a high chance that you will get wet either by falling off the board, or by walking in or out of the water at the lakeside. Part of the fun of learning to stand up paddleboard is going for a little swim!
Yes- I always carry a phone in case of an emergency and will take plenty of pictures during your session. These will be shared with you after.
Yes, as long as it is kept safe and in a waterproof pouch such as an Aquapac case. Padlo SUP will not be liable for any loss or damage to personal property that you choose to bring on the water.
Even during a heatwave, water temperature is much colder than land temperature, therefore, cold-water shock is still a risk even in the height of summer.
Croeso i Gymru! / Welcome to Wales! We love the rain and this will not be a reason to cancel your session. Please bring a waterproof jacket with you in case the heavens do open. The only time your session will be cancelled is if it’s too windy or there is thunder and lightning.
The boards can take riders up to 115kg, or around 18 stone.
For safety reasons, dogs are not allowed on the boards whilst on the water.
Stand up Paddleboarding is a physically demanding sport, and you must be in good physical health to take part. Please seek medical advice if you have any health problems, particularly if you have any muscular, skeletal, mobility or joint issues. All participants must complete the health, safety and liability form before attending.
It is important that you discuss any injuries sustained before your session with me. We will re-arrange your session or offer a credit note. Your safety on the water is my top priority!
As above, please seek medical advice regarding the type of activity you will be doing. If you’re asthmatic for example, this should be noted on the health, safety, and liability form, however, I am not medically qualified to determine your suitability if you have a medical condition or taking medication. It’s always best to check with a medical professional.

If an alternative date is not suitable, a gift voucher/credit note will be provided. Please see the cancellation policy above
