The sessions mainly take place at Y Glyn area of Llyn Padarn in Llanberis, opposite Snowdonia Watersports (LL55 4EL). We meet near the pontoon area in first car park.
Yes- there is a small charge for parking. Card payments are accepted at the ticket machines.
Please arrive at least 15 mins before the start of your session. This will allow you time to get changed and head to collect your wetsuit if you’re hiring one. During the Summer holidays and busier weekends, please allow plenty of time to arrive, park up or to get through some peak season traffic.
Remember- we dress for the water temperature!
Wetsuits can be added to your booking which is arranged with Snowdonia Watersports located opposite the lake.
If you are hiring a wetsuit, there are changing rooms and showers for you to use. Alternatively, please wear your own wetsuit or swimwear along with shorts, t-shirt, leggings, thermal tops and a waterproof jacket should it rain.
Please don’t forget to bring sun protection e.g. hat and sunscreen.
I strongly advise to wear closed toe shoes during your session. Many customers bring old trainers they don’t mind getting wet. This is mainly to protect your feet from rocks and slate and to avoid any injuries. No flip flops or crocs please.
Absolutely! Please attach your glasses to a strap to reduce damage or loss.
The last thing anyone needs is to damage or lose their expensive Ray Bans or their one and only pair of glasses.
It may be a good idea to wear cheaper sunglasses and/or bring a second pair of glasses with you.
Yes, although this is an injury risk should you get water in your eyes by falling off your board. Please let me know if you wear contacts.
Snowdonia Watersports provide changing facilities exclusively for customers who are hiring a wetsuit. Alternatively, please be prepared to change next to or in your vehicle.
Yes, there is a public toilet nearby.
The minimum age is 12 years old with no upper age limit.
Participants must be fit and healthy.
All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on the water during the session.
Absolutely! There are plenty of spots around the lake to sit and relax, or they can pop over to the café across the road for some coffee and delicious cake! There is also a lovely walk around Llyn Padarn.
No. Ideally you should be able to know how to swim, however, the important thing is being comfortable in the water.
Everyone must wear a PFD (personal floatation device) which provides buoyancy, and you will also be attached with a leash to your board which is your big island of safety.
Yes- there is a high chance that of getting wet by falling off the board, or by walking in or out of the water.
Part of the fun of learning to stand up paddleboard is going for a little swim!
Yes- I always carry a phone in case of an emergency and will take plenty of pictures during your session. These will be shared with you after.
Yes, as long as it is kept safe and in a waterproof pouch such as an Aquapac case. Padlo SUP will not be liable for any loss or damage to personal property that you choose to bring on the water.
Water temperature is colder than air temperature even duing heatwaves.
Cold-water shock is still a risk even in the height of summer.
Croeso i Gymru! / Welcome to Wales! We love the rain and this will not be a reason to cancel your session. Please bring a waterproof jacket with you in case the heavens do open. The only time your session will be cancelled is if it’s too windy or there is thunder and lightning.
The boards can take riders up to 115kg, or around 18 stone.
For safety reasons, dogs are not allowed to take part in the sessions.
Stand up Paddleboarding is a physically demanding sport, and you must be in good physical health to take part. Please seek medical advice if you have any health problems, particularly if you have any muscular, skeletal, mobility or joint issues. All participants must complete the health, safety and liability form before attending.
It is important that you notify and discuss any injuries sustained before your session.
You must seek medical advice prior to taking part in any physical activity.
Your safety on the water is top priority!
As above, you must seek medical advice regarding the type of activity you will be doing.
If you’re asthmatic for example, this should be noted on the health, safety, and liability form.
I am not medically qualified therefore it’s always best to check with a medical professional prior to taking part in physical activities.
Cancellation Policy
A) Cancellations or changes by customer:
Should you need to cancel or change the date of your session, please get in touch as soon as possible.
The following scale of charges applies for cancellations:
• Cancellation 30 days or more before the session– 100% of the amount refunded
• Cancellation between 15 and 29 days before the session–50% of the amount refunded
• Cancellation between 14 and 7 days before the session– 25% of the amount refunded
• Cancellation of fewer than 7 days before the session – no amount refunded
Please note that wetsuit hire costs are not refundable at any time
If you wish to change your booking to a different date, this will be made subject to availability. A credit note may also be offered.
B) Cancellation or changes by Padlo SUP:
Every attempt will be made to ensure sessions run as scheduled. However, Padlo SUP reserves the right to:
1- Cancel due to unsuitable conditions, forecast or weather conditions, or due to any other factors beyond its control which include illness and health of the instructor. All parties need to be aware that these variables can result in the sessions having to be canceled for safety reasons close to, or even on, the day of the session.
2- Padlo SUP will endeavor to offer an alternative date or credit note to the customer. If unable to do so or the alternative session offered is unacceptable to the customer, a refund will be made.
WEATHER:
My ultimate priority is your safety on the water. In the event of poor weather, particularly strong winds, the session will be postponed and an alternative date will be arranged. If an alternative date is not suitable, a gift voucher/credit note will be provided. Please see the cancellation policy above
