My name is Carwyn and welcome to Padlo Stand Up Paddleboarding! "Padlo" is Welsh for paddling and I am based near to Caernarfon in glorious North Wales. I am excited to share my passion for SUP with you and showcase what I believe is the most stunning part of the UK.
My first SUP experience was around five years ago on the glorious Greek island of Zakynthos and since then I have undertaken my biggest challenge to date which was crossing Scotland from West to East coast covering over 60 miles on a paddleboard! I love the sense of escape on a SUP particularly from the busy lives we lead and the opportunities to explore and see places from different angles. I love travelling and have been on multiple SUP tours in this little corner of the country. Over the years I have been lucky to be coached by the incredible Dave Brown and Sian Sykes.
I am a qualified SUP instructor and have just completed the Water Skills Academy (WSA) adventure guide training. PADLO is also a fully accredited provider with Water Skills Academy.
SUP has many benefits most notably on our wellbeing and mental health. As a full time manager of the local volunteer centre, there is nothing better than getting on the water after a day behind the desk to de-stress, relax and reduce my anxiety. Looking after ourselves has never been more important. I will also be offering sessions working with local organisations and social prescription schemes. I am the founding Chair of North Wales Pride since 2012 so I also want to want to bring new experiences for the LGBT+ community in the area.
Padlo SUP's mission is 'Educate-Empower-Enjoy'. Through educating, my aim is to empower responsible paddlers and discover the wellbeing benefits through SUP, our role as SUPers in looking after our planet, leading to enjoyment on the water.
